Landfill (Non-recyclable):
Anything that you can't 'recycle' is placed in your 'non-recycle' bin and will be designated for landfill disposal this may include waste that is 'contaminated' and unsuitable for recycling i.e paper or card such as a food container that is saturated in food or drink. The more aware of what you can and can't recycle will ensure that
you place as little as possible into this waste stream.

The Government are trying to find alternative means to the landfill process such as using incineration, a process that can be used to create energy to power homes, or anaerobic digestion, a process that also recovers energy for reuse. These have their own issues related to the overall 'greeness' of the process but in short, they present a better solution than landfill sites - and particularly as we are running out of landfill space.
